It's nice to get up in the morning...

On rare occasions, the best half-hour of the day is from 4:30-5am. I hear Scott making noise in his room. He is not sad, per se, just uncomfortably awake. I walk in and pick him up. He pats me on the shoulder as I pat him on the back. I feed him. He doesn't fall asleep right away. I cuddle with him and he stares at me in the dark. His eyes are wide open, but he is silent. He touches my face. I touch his face. For ten minutes or so we sit together in the quiet dark. He stares at the red numbers on his clock. Minutes pass. He yawns. He blinks more and more often, and then drifts back to sleep. These are wonderful minutes and I would not trade for anything. There are no pictures, no videos, just images in my memory--images I hope to never, ever forget. Am I crazy to love this half-hour so much?

well-said Becky. It sounds like the whole world stops while you have that time together.

Aww... that is incredibly sweet! :) That is how I feel with Greyson. He is just so sweet when he wakes up a little early and I can go in there and see him smile at me and be so happy that I'm there! Greyson has just started getting obsessive about touching people's faces and when he does it to me, it melts my heart! :) Good for you for cherishing those sweet moments! :D By the way, I have to say that Scott is SOOO ADORABLE! :D

You're not crazy to love these moments so much. I remember little eye-gaze, nose-to-nose minutes with Hayley. Priceless!

Nathan moments include loving the joy with him as I swung him low so his dangling foot could kick a ball across the room.

And with Matthew, from the earliest time he can hug us back, getting a squeeze is awesome.

You cherish it - and you write it down. I think we are all going to need to remember these moments - vividly - when they are teenagers.

You are absolutely right. With Hyrum and Noah my favorite most precious times were in the dark rocking them in the middle of the night. You can't get a picture, but I hope to always remember those moments.
